The dancing sensation, Prabhu Dheva chose Sherif as the next Prabhu Dheva

The curtains were drawn on the long running dance talent show Amul Ungalil Yaar Adutha Prabhu Dheva as the finalists sizzled on the stages in front of their idol Prabhu Dheva. It was a day when the air was filled with the thoughts of Prabhu Dheva's idol Michael Jackson and the dancers paid tribute to the POP Icon. The finals which was carried live was held on June 26, 2009 at the YMCA Grounds where the nation's Michael Jackson "Prabhu Dheva" himself was present for the 4 hour LIVE mega show and passed on his dance mantle to SHERIF, a small town boy from Coimbatore.

Launched in August 2008, the show has received many appreciation and has redefined dance altogether. Thousands of young and aspirant dancers across Tamilnadu - Coimbatore, Tiruchi and Chennai took part in the ground auditions of Ungalil Yaar Adutha Prabhu Dheva. In the end - Premgopal, Sherif, Nanda and Premgopal - were the chosen four finalists. They were given a lifetime chance to perform in front of the dancing icon "Prabhu Dheva". The highlight of the evening was when Prabhu Dheva started off the show with a never seen before emotional act dedicated to his mentor Michael Jackson. It was a highly emotional moment and as Prabhu Dheva said "the show had to go on" and it did with renewed vigor.

Television history was recreated when the dancing legend of the nation - Prabhu Dheva took the centre stage and performed for four minutes with the finalists. "A show named after me gives me great honor and I realize the huge responsibility of taking dance to the next level", commented the dancing legend about the show. "Also this show is close to my heart and these talented dancers are a real find and their dance skills are mind-blowing", continued Prabhu Dheva. On speaking about his dancing idol, Prabhu Dheva commented saying, "Michael Jackson is one of the reasons for me to be a dancer that I'm today. I grew up watching his videos and feel bad that he is no more. But the show must go on and we dedicate this evening to him."

Ungalil Yaar Adutha Prabhu Dheva is the first of its kind show in Tamil Television where the participants chance to perform many kinds of dance forms like the salsa, jazz, ballet and many more international dance rotuines. The show was graced by many popular artists like Sneha, Gayatri Raguram, Lakshmi Rai, Sada, Shobhana, Gawthami, Pooja, Aachi Manorama, Anand Babu, Simbu, Shyam, Santhanu, Jeeva, Arya, Vishnu Varadhan, Jeyam Ravi, Bharath and many other popular faces from the film fraternity have judged the contestants' performance. Apart from them dance masters like Sundaram, Saroj Khan, Puliyur Saroja, Raguram Master, Master Johny, Ashok Raja, Cool Jeyanth all have appreciated the dancing skills of these contestants.

The finalists performed to two competitive rounds in the mega LIVE finals; first round was the western round and the second was of the contestant's choice. Apart from getting the most prestigious title "Next Prabhu Dheva", the winner Sherif also got a cash prize worth Rs. 10 lakhs. The runners up Premgopal, Manijkumar and Nanda were given away Rs. 1 lakh.

Apart from the crowning ceremony, special performances of classical dancer Shobhana, Rukmani and Ragasiya were also part of this mega LIVE show. The LIVE show was hosted by Ramya and Prabhu Dheva's students' and now dance masters Dinesh, Ashok Raja, Johny, Tarun, Bhaskar, Cool Jeyanth, John, Robert, Sridhar, Shobhi were also a part of the event.

The repeat of this event is to be played on July 3rd at 1900 hrs on Vijay TV.
